I know I should have started taking him to the dentist earlier but I didn't! Anyway, today was his first time going and he didn't really know what the dentist was, he just knew he would get toys by going! We get into the office and they sit him in the chair to take x rays and he is pretty shy. Then they ask him if they can take a picture of his teeth, he says "no" not yelling or screaming, just no. So she asked how many teeth he has, he says "four" can I see them she asks, he says, "no, I ate them all" You did! she says, he replies, "Yep they are all gone, I ate them all!" Don't ask me where he learns these kinds of things! It's like he's already mastered how to get out of something he doesn't want to do! The assistant and I were both laughing trying to say anything we could so he would take the picture, but to no avail! So they looked at his teeth and said that they were spaced enough to see any cavities so we moved on! Now we get into the room with the "big chair" and Aiden is pretty happy to sit in it! Then the assistant shows him that she can move it up and down! Boy did he love that! She starts to show him all of the tools she will be using to clean his teeth, she lets him touch them and gives him a drink with the water tool and so far so good! Then she puts the toothpaste on and starts brushing, and as I would have predicted he starts screaming and wanting out of the chair! She tells me we can stop if we want but the nice mom I am said he's fine and helped to hold him down while she finished brushing! After all that she shows him the drawer of toys, now he is calm again going through each toy telling her what it is! All we had left was for the dr. to look at his teeth up close so we convinced him to get back in the magic chair and after the dr. looked at his teeth he could get another toy! While the doctor is looking in his mouth he keeps trying to tell us he is going to "get an airplane in a minute" Well, the doc got done and said everything looked good! He even said I can tell he brushes his teeth each day! In my mind I was thinking "you can?" (When you have to hog tie a child to brush their teeth each day you begin to wonder if you are doing any good!) Now I know we are! He picked out some more toys and we were on our way home! He was so proud of all the stuff he got and he thanked the assistant lady about 5 times for all his "toys!" It went a lot better than I had imagined and I now know how manipulating my son can be when he really doesn't want to do something!
After a long day at the dentist here he is with his stuff! Notice the floss in his hand, I knew that would last a long time!

Haha, Aiden is the coolest kid ever! i love how he said he ate his teeth... what are you and Eric teaching him?? :)
I thought you took then at 3 years old, so as far as I'm concerned, you're an over-achiever mother, not a late mother : ) and I'm sure he loves playing with the floss.
That is hilarious!! That totally made me laugh when I saw him asleep with the floss, Aspen has done that before! What a stud! We need to get together again soon!
how cute! i can't wait to hopefully have a boy. if i have another girl i call you switch me for one of your boys cause they're my favorite...ok i'm sure i'll love the baby even if it is a boy but man do i want a boy!
I giggled at the picture of him sacked out holding the ball of floss. What a cute kid. For Damon's birthday (ya in December...) he wants to go to Chuck E Cheese with Aiden! Anyways...glad you got the dentist thing done and over with. It is our turn now. I too am shocked the Dentist says he can tell Aiden's teeth get brushed. (not that Aiden has gross teeth....just that it is hard to keep a toddlers teeth brushed and clean.) I bet he would say differently about Damon's!
Tara! I'm so glad you found me! You're family is just darling and it sounds like you're having fun! Keep in touch, okay?
What a BRAVE boy. I am SOOOO proud of you Aiden. I hope you will keep brushing your teeth everyday. I love you buddyboop!
